I’m scratching my head over Facebook and a new article out today entitled, “Facebook directs more online users than Google“.
I will admit that sometimes I scratch my head about Business Marketing on Facebook. For me, Facebook is a social site where my friends and I to meet and keep up with each other. I now know so many people’s name from my church now that we’re all on “FB”. I enjoy the site, but don’t spend too much time on it. And, I get really annoyed when my email inbox contains emails from someone I added inviting me to their MLM event or “How-to-make-money-from-home event, etc.. Just in 2010, I’ve probably unfriended at least 30 people that sent me those invitations. There’s a local Real Estate School Owner that added me and I added them and within 36 hours, I had 3 Real Estate School invitations from them. Needless to say that they were unfriended within 36 hours of my adding them.
And, what about the Realtors on FB? It’s said that 76% of Realtors are on FB and I also get annoyed when their “New Listing At….” fills my status page. But, like a local Realtor told me recently, I should be thankful for this appearing on FB because it produces a local appraisal when the home sells. And, I know one local Realtor that can attribute 5 home sales to their 2009 involvement on FB.
So, how does a business, or an appraiser, market on FB without turning people off, the same way these 30+ FBers did me, annoyed me enough to unfriend them?
