http://www.realestateappraisertips.com/ - Real Estate Appraiser Tips: A FREE Approach For Home Appraisers To Grow Their Business – Interview With Ryan Richmond! I found this site online during the Christmas Holidays and became curious. I connected with Ryan on Active Rain and the Appraiser’s Water Cooler and asked him a few questions about how his site my benefit appraisers?
The benefit is “free exposure on our site for appraisers!”

From Ryan’s Site:
“LowTaxRate.com and the Property Tax Experts, Inc. are leveraging the latest and most innovative marketing techniques to reach and educate property owners…the very same clients who need your help. Our national scope and advertising presence will give your business maximum exposure and deliver clients seeking out help to lower their property tax. This is a tremendous opportunity for appraisers and real estate agents to reach new retail clientele and provide valuation advice. Signing up as one of our listed Real Estate Professionals is a free way to grow your business and reach new customers. Click here to see a sample listing and learn more.”
What’s your site about?
Our site is a resource for property owners to learn more about their property tax and find qualified real estate professionals to assist with valuation advice when challenging their tax assessment.
With this down market it is important that property owners take notice of their tax and keep a few dollars in their pockets.
What service are you offering?
Our business model has changed over the last two years and most of our income is derived mainly from commercial appeals both locally and nationwide. We provide an e-book on our site for the do it yourselfers and are trying to find a business model for residential appeals. What we have learned is that advice from local professionals is the most accurate measure of real estate value and in most areas the only evidence assessors offices will consider. We initially explored performing AVM’s nationwide from our Detroit office but quickly shot the idea down. Our business model will continually evolve but we know without a knowledgable appraiser base we will not move forward in this indstry.
Where are you offering it (just a few states or nationwide)?
We are offering advice nationwide, possibly adding Canada at some point. But after researching the Canadian property tax system, the appeal process is much more liberal and they have fewer restrictions and deadlines than here in the states.
How can appraisers find out more information, possibly get on board and why would they want to?
Appraisers can visit the site LowRateTax.com/Signup and add a profile for free (serious no catch). Make certain to add which counties you cover and add a picture. Our experience has shown that adding a picture and personalizing your bio (not copying your website info) gets the most traffic.
To answer your second question, it’s free advertising, why not sign up.
What benefit to appraisers are you offering – An avenue toward more non-lender work?
This is a unique opportunity to expand their clientele. With shrinking budgets and busy assessors, most municipalities cannot keep up with or choose to ignore tax appeals. Consider yourself an independent contractor if you will for your local government making certain that real estate is assessed fairly and accurately. We cannot comment on what to quote for your fee to the consumer but having varying prices with different scopes of work should be offered.
Thank You Your Time, Ryan! And, thank you for creating a free opportunity for appraisers to grow their businesses.
